Educational Program
South Columbia Family School provides a unique learning environment that is designated for home-school families in the Scappoose and St. Helens School Districts. In this public school of choice, parents are welcomed and valued as the primary educators of their children. Enrollment is open to any family residing in Scappoose or St. Helens School Districts.

An integral component of the SCFS educational program is the Individualized Learning Plan (ILP). Families at SCFS will work collaboratively with teachers and education coordinators to craft an ILP that is customized, meets individual needs and interests, and outlines the student's learning goals and outcomes. In conjunction with the ILP, the following are key components of our education program:
Teamwork and collaboration between home and school
    Community day
    Family conferences and tutoring
TEAMWORK/COLLABORATION

Prior to entering South Columbia Family School parents attend a Parent Information Session, where roles and responsibilities are discussed. Parents sign a contract committing to providing instruction to their students and teaching our curriculum, which is aligned to the Oregon State standards.

Parent educators provide individualized instruction in the home to correspond with classroom experiences. Curriculum is provided at NO cost to our families.

Curriculum choices include, but are not limited to: Calvert History of US Social Studies, K12 Delta Science, Saxon Math, Riggs Institute Language Arts.

Family activities and events, such as Outdoor School, Math Strategies to Motivate Your Student at Home, Creative Arts for Families, and field trips have been offered.
